Xander Week 52 – Officialy Walking!

I know a few weeks ago I said that Xander had taken his first steps, which is true. But we had a tough time convincing Xander to take anymore steps, and the ones that he did take were incredibly unstable. Then last week he finally got his balance under control and set off across the living room! The first time he did it, I was in the shower, and Zach watched him take 17 steps. Since then he’s toddling all over the place, though when he really wants to get somewhere, he uses crawling as his preferred mode of travel.
I’ve got to say that watching Xander walk is one of the cutest things I’ve seen so far, and he seems so proud of himself. Often he sticks his tongue out, maybe for concentration, or perhaps just excitement, but either way it’s super cute. Now we’re trying to practice in shoes, but that’s a bit slower going, as Xander’s balance still isn’t great yet. At any rate, he officially started walking at 11 months, and I’m sure it won’t be long before we’ll be chasing after the little guy!
That is awesome. w00t! Now I just need to make sure that Samantha starts walking at 10 months and 3 weeks.

Congrats on the whole walking thing. Wait until he starts talking like my nephew…it is really funny when they learn. My nephew’s first word was “Zebra” (no clue), I wonder what Xander’s will be!!! Congrats though.
Hi! I just stumbled onto your blog and wanted to comment on this video: How adorable! My son Mathew is going to be one on June 1st, and he’s not walking just yet. I see that your little guy started at 52 weeks, which is great. I also had to laugh as my hubby is a gamer, so I recognized that Wii-mote in Xander’s hand immediately!

Hi Bethany, I hope Mathew had a good birthday! I’m sure he’ll be running around your house in no time. Yep, that wii-mote is one of Xander’s favorites. It works out well actually, because when my husband plays a game, Xander can “help” with his own wii-mote. It’s one of our favorite videos – I just wish we had more!
