Xander Week 30 - Sitting Up!
April 12, 2007
Well, Xander continues to show absolutely no interest in rolling over, but he has mastered sitting up on his own. It’s as though we just skipped over that rolling over phase. When we left for Las Vegas, Xander could sit pretty well when propped against something, or if he bent forward and balanced with his hands. When we got back, he didn’t need his hands to balance anymore - he had figured out how to sit up all on his own! We still put pillows around for those times when he forgets that he’s balancing himself, and topples foward or uses his whole body to look behind himself. But at this point, Xander can sit on the floor (on a blanket and surrounded by pillows) with toys for 20-30 minutes at a stretch! I know it’s a little tough to see in the picture, but there isn’t anything supporting Xander - he’s just hanging out, playing with his keys. It’s amazing how fast they grow!
My daughter is almost 6 months old and the same thing is happening. She’s decided rolling over is over-rated or something and has gone straight to sitting up. She’s almost sitting up completely on her own now, but so far has only rolled over once!
