Week 37 - Almost There….
August 29, 2006
My friends and family have been wonderfully supportive throughout my entire pregnancy. From the moment broadcast the good news, we’ve have encouragement and support, people bring by gifts for no reason other than they’re excited (and they just can’t resist the adorable baby stuff).
In an attempt to be supportive, my friends, family, and near strangers have tried to encourage me this past week by telling me that I’m almost there, it’s getting close now, time’s almost up, etc. Whenever anyone says that, I want to respond, “bite me”. These next few weeks might fly by to them, but they are dragging slower than molasses in winter to me. I think they forget that I’m waking up 3-4 times a night, and that I have to rotate myself like a rotiserie chicken to get comfortable in bed, that I can’t get in or out of any chair or bed these days without a great deal of effort, that I’m eating Tums as a late-night snack, that I have forgotten what it feels like to take a deep breath, and that even some of my maternity clothes are feeling tight these days and I could go on. So every day is a long day - I’m tired, and my whole body hurts, and when people say I’m almost there, they think a few weeks is a piece of cake, but to me every day is a long one, and “D day” feels sooooo far away.
Instead of telling me I’m almost there, I wish people would remind me that this isn’t going to last forever, even though it feels like it will.
Hi there,
I accidentally stumbled upon your blog and read some of the entries. Congrats on the upcoming baby!
I was wondering when your due date is - I am 38 weeks now, so we must be pretty close.
Hi J - congrats on your upcoming baby as well! My official due date is September 21st. Of course, they say it could be anytime within the 2 weeks before or after that date… At this point, I’m voting for sooner rather than later, but I guess I don’t really get much control over that decision
Please keep us posted on how you are doing - and on how close to your due date your baby decides to arrive!
Oh wow, your due date is 10 days after mine - mine is Sept 11th. Yes, it would be nice to see how accurate those both are, but at this point it’s only a matter of sitting & waiting! It’s all in the baby’s hands now.
Hi J - you’re getting pretty close to your due date - you must be getting excited! I wonder if your baby will be ready to come out next week. Has your doctor said anything - any predictions? How are you feeling? I wish you good luck in the upcoming weeks!
Wow you hit the nail right on the head. I am 36 weeks today. Everyday, I hear that I look like I am about ready to pop or some other off the wall comment that you don’t feel like hearing when you are carrying around 30 extra pounds. The days have definitely gotten longer and more uncomfortable. I don’t even think that I have a pair of shoes that actually fit any more. I can barely wear my wedding ring. Every day I hope that I can get it off at night. I have been considering just not wearing it any more until after I give birth…
Anyway, congratulations and I feel your pain…
Hi Brenda - congrats on your pregnancy! I can completely empathize with your shoe problem - I’ve been wearing flip-flops for the past 4 months (I think that was the only plus to being pregnant in the summertime…). I also had the same problem with my rings - I took them off about a month ago - I feel a little naked without them, but I didn’t want to have them cut off if my hands swelled too much… Hang in there - maybe you’ll get lucky and your baby will decide he or she is ready to come out sooner rather than later!
i am so tired i am 37 plus weeks pregnant and it fell like the baby dont want to come out soooooo unconfortable to sleep and make it worse the frequent trips to the bathroom but still i need to be dehydrate
whta can i do
Im almost 38 weeks pregnant. My due date is Sept 1st but i guess i can have her anytime now. (with 37 being full term) Lately i’ve been having sharp/pressure pain in my pelvic area. and sometime cramp like a period pressure on my lower back. Does that mean she’s coming soon and my bodies getting ready by stretching in the pelvic area since her head is down. or is just braxton hicks? Its so hard to get up and down when laying or sitting. its very uncomfortable too. and at night and early morning i have to pee every hour it seems. and if i hold it in, it starts to hurt. it doesn’t feel good trying to get comfortable when going to bed. its hard to move from side to side. Has anyone had a really bad kick from their baby inside to your ribs? yesterday i almost started to cry she kicked my rib so hard. it feels like she’s always on my ribs. like her foot or something. She has the hiccups a lot. (which i heard is normal) and if i stand to long my feet start to swell. my OBGYN says i can get dehydrated easy and i know but i do drink but sometimes i don’t drink enough water and when i do i pee like crazy its so annoying. My eye sight seems worse from when i first got pregnant. i heard its normal for your eye to change cuz of the hormones but its really hard to see from far away hope it gets better after. Has anyone had or has the same things going on like me?
