Week 19 - Umm… Movement?

May 22, 2006

Fetus - week 19I think I felt the baby move this week.  I think probably every mother can come up with some different way to describe the feeling.  The baby center says that most women say it feels like “popcorn popping, a goldfish swimming around or butterflies fluttering.”  I say it feels like someone lightly tapping on your organs.  Regardless of the weird feeling, during pregnancy I have noticed a multitude of weird feelings - from increased pressure on my bladder to my “round ligaments” stretching.  So, when I felt that first kick my initial thought was, that can’t be a kick, it must be some other weird pregnancy feeling.  Of course, it was only one kick, so it wasn’t like I could confirm my suspicions at that point.  Since then, I have felt several kicks, and I have no other explanation.  It must be movement, and generally my baby likes to kick (or punch, I’m not really sure) my lower organs.  I don’t know if the kid is already knocking on the door, ready to come out, or if he/she is just trying to stretch and make more room for him/herself in there.  Either way, it is always a weird feeling, and continues to give me a jolt every time I feel it.  Unfortunately, since the movements tend to be inwards and not near any outer walls, I haven’t been able to let Zach feel it yet.  I did tell him that if I ever figured out how to recreate the feeling, I would certainly be happy to give him a little internal punch in the stomach (hehe).

  1. hiya, Im 20 weeks pregnant and ive felt my baby kick for the first time, it were well good, and i were really excited, now it wont stop kicking and im really glad about that, i started worrying that i hadnt felt my baby kick, but a few night later it started n i was over the moon about it, im just excited about seein my baby for the first time n cant wait to hold him/her. Only 4 months to go till im a mummy! :-)

  2. If you havent felt your baby move yet dont panick some babies just take longer, and that day will come when it will take its first kick, and after that it wont stop, good luck to all you pregnant people, being pregnant is really exciting. :-)

  3. this web site sucks

  4. Hi Tammy, I appreciate your criticism. I certainly don’t expect everyone to like or enjoy this site. I would love to know what you think I could do to make it better. I would also love to see your website, and get and idea of what you think a good site contains. I’m always happy for suggestions on how to improve, so fire away!

  5. I personally really like to read what you have on here. It’s very exciting…being pregnant and all. I’m @ 19wks also and have my first ultrasound next week. Good luck to you, you should be due soon =o)

  6. Hi Flo - congrats on your pregnancy! You must be very excited about your ultrasound next week. Are you going to find out the sex of the baby? I’m glad you’re enjoying the blog - it’s always fun to keep everyone updated, and I love hearing about everyone else’s experiences as well. Please let us know how the ultrasound goes next week!

  7. has anyone had to wait until 24 weeks for the ultrasound? my dr says he wants to wait to be able to see the lungs and heart better. if that’s so, ok…but i wanted to find out the gender next week not another month!

  8. Hi Erin, I can definitely understand your impatience - I could hardly wait until 18 weeks. However, if I had to do it all over again, I think I’d wait a little longer for the ultrasound if I could so that they would be more likely able to determine the sex for me. It was so disappointing to not know the sex after getting all excited to find it out. I hope everything went well at your ultrasound!

  9. i too was worried about fetal movement and havent felt any yet- only 17wks along-my midwife says it has to due with weight, thinner women feel earlier than heavier, also the placement of the placenta, so after hearing my little ones heartbeat and knowing that information i calmed down. i still am so excited to feel it i just cant wait.

  10. Hi Ashlee, it certainly is nerve wracking at first, waiting for that movement (and I have never been a patient person) so I will send positive movement thoughts your way, and hope that your baby starts kicking hard enough for you to feel him or her very soon. Good luck!

  11. Hi. I am 19 weeks and 3 days into my pregnancy. I found out last week we are having a boy!! I feel like muscle spasms in there but nothing in the last few days. When will he start to move and kick!! This gets frustrating, I am so ready to really feel him move. Can anyonw relate to this?? Thanks!

  12. Just wondering if there are other depressed pregnant moms out there.. this baby was a surprise to my husband and I.. and while i dont want anyone to think that I am not extremely thankful to God that there is another one on the way.. I just cant help feeling really sad all the time… anyone else out there like that/

  13. Hi Ashley - congrats on your baby boy! I know how frustrating it can be to wait for those first movements. I would imagine that it’ll happen anytime now, though it can take as long as 22 weeks… It took longer for me than I wanted because I had a thicker layer of fat for the baby to kick through ;-) I hope you feel your baby start kicking soon, and then you won’t be able to get him to stop!

  14. Hi Sandra, congratulations on your upcoming baby. It is entirely normal for you to feel a little depressed - especially if the pregnancy is a surprise, and your hormones are going crazy. The next time you see your doctor talk to him about how you’re feeling - they may be able to help. And don’t forget to talk to your husband and family about how you’re feeling - I’m sure you’re already a great mother, and talking about your feelings can only help. Good luck!

  15. I am about 21 weeks pregnant. I felt the bubbles or fluttering for the first time at about 15-16 weeks. i didnt feel anything for a while, i went to the doctor and i heard its heart. but i still don’t feel anymore of the flutters. instead i feel like i have gas bubbles towards the inner part of my lower belly, like little poots if you will, but i don’t pass gas or anything, i don’t know if that’s my baby or if thats my passing gass on the inside.

  16. Hi Everyone,

I am 21 weeks pregnant also and like you said Tamara i felt it earlier on but now I haven’t felt anything for a while…All of my doctor visits have been great he/she has a very strong heart beat but, it still concerns me that i haven’t felt it move like I think I should. Maybe I’m just being impatient. I go to the doc on Nov 22 so hopefully I get to see whats going on. I have heard in some case women not noticing there babies move until 26 weeks. Well good luck to everyone.

  17. Hi Tamara, Congratulations on your pregnancy! It’s hard to tell if those things you feel are baby flutters or just gastrointestinal movement. If it’s baby movements, they’ll start to get more distinctive and stronger soon. And, 15-16 weeks is on the early side - I’m sure you’ll start to feel those flutters again soon. If your doctor isn’t worried, and the heartbeat is good, then it sounds like everything is fine, and your baby is maybe just “teasing” you ;-) Good luck!

  18. Hi Nicole, congrats on your pregnancy! I hope your doctor appointment went well today. Have you had an ultrasound yet? They say that women generally feel movement around 20 because that is the average, which means that lots of us fall on the early or late side of that, so I think you’re right Nicole - 26 weeks is probably on the high side of the average, but it doesn’t sound like you have anything to worry about yet. Before you know it, that baby will be keeping you up at night with kicks in the belly!

  19. Well I went to the doctor and everything is still going good. I am about 25 weeks now and i can really feel my baby now. It kicks a lot during the night right when i want to go to sleep. When i finally went to my ultrasound, i could actually see what my baby was doing. Its little arms and legs were moving like crazy but i couldn’t feel it. So i know that even if i don’t feel my baby at certain times i know they are still moving around. Unfortunatly i wasn’t able to idenify the sex because his behind was sitting right on top of the camera making it impossible to see. I wanted to know so bad.

  20. Hi Tamara, isn’t the ultrasound fun? And I’m glad that you’ve been able to reduce some stress by seeing your baby move even when you couldn’t feel him/her (it’s frustrating when they won’t cooperate, isn’t it?) Xander loved to start kicking right around 11pm when I was just drifting off to sleep. That was a great time for me to let Zach feel him move though, so late evening and early morning I used to put Zach’s hand on my belly while we dozed before getting up. Thinking back on it, I really enjoyed those times. I hope that you are able to enjoy that time as well!

  21. enjoyed reading this site! I didn’t know I was pregnant until I was 6 months along. A spinal injury of mine was the reason my osteopath told me I kept missing my periods…plus the fact that my (now fiancee’s) vasectomy had failed..I am 39 years old having my first baby, and at 34 weeks’ my baby has hooves, and gallops. Never thought this was so cool. I hope he is okay (Dr.’s seem to think so), the not-so-little-guy went through two spinal injections, 4 x-rays, and a full MRI with me…he’s a tuffy..I just hope his speech, brain function, motor skills etc will be normal…so far so good, so girls do not worry too much!!

  22. Hi Jo-Ann - congrats on your pregnancy! I suppose that was a bit of a surprise when it turned out that the little guy wasn’t actually a spinal injury! He is certainly a tough little guy, and I’ll definitely be sending positive thoughts your way that he is a healthy baby! It seems to me that since he thwarted your fiance’s vasectomy, and the spinal injections, x-rays and an MRI, he’s pretty determined to be born! Good luck, and please let us know how everything turns out!

  23. I am at 19 weeks this Friday and I still don’t even notice I am pregnant. My stomach is a little different and I get heartburn but nothing dramatic. Sometimes that worries me!

  24. Hi Kari - congrats on your pregnancy! I completely understand how you feel - you want to feel all that exciting pregnancy stuff, and don’t have the patience to wait for it to start happening. Don’t worry though - before long you’ll be trying to sleep while that baby dances a gig on your bladder, and your belly will get huge, and then you’ll wonder how much longer before you can meet this exciting new person. The waiting is tough, but try to enjoy every minute of it!

  25. This site is wonderful! It is so great to hear experiences, concerns, and stories of other pregnant woman. It makes us all feel like we are not alone. Thank you for your site.

  26. This site has been extemely helpful with putting my mind at ease. I’m currently 19 weeks pregnant with my third child. I felt fetal movement early with my first two children (around 15-16 weeks). I was also happy to feel movement with this pregnancy at 15 1/2 weeks. However, those little flutters and “kicks” stopped about 4 or 5 days later, and I haven’t felt ANYTHING since then:( I was really concerned and worried, but my dr told me that every thing was fine, and the heartbeat was strong. I still can’t help being concerned, because my other two children were/are so healthy. But now I see the each pregnancy is different. Thanks for this great website!

  27. UPDATE!!!….(19 weeks and 1 day)This baby is now having a party in my belly! I went from not feeling anything for weeks, to constant movement and kicks overnight. Finally, I can enjoy my pregnancy and stop worrying. My husband and I will find out the sex on Friday!

  28. I am at 18 weeks and had just been to my monthly doctors appointment when she informed me that I would soon be feeling movement. She said she could not really tell me how it would feel but that after a while of it happening I would realize that I felt it all along. Well just two days later I felt it. I thought it was a pain or a weird tapping pressure, definitely not the flutter or the pop corn people talk about. Someone even flicked me lightly once and said thats how it feels. I agree with Sara, it is like someone poking at your organs. It doesn’t really hurt and I too thought it was a pregnancy discomfort but lo and behold it is my baby! Its all very exciting. I am having my ultrasound done at 22 weeks because it is a more accurate reading then to determine the sex. They couldn’t see much this week. But I can wait.

  29. Hi there, I’m 19 weeks and I have not felt a thing. It’s freaking me out a little b/c I’ve heard other people say they started feeling movements at 15 weeks. I have my first ultrasound next week so I’m looking forward to that. I definitely want to know the sex of my baby. I can’t wait to start buying some cute outfits!

  30. Hi Stephanie - I’m glad you are enjoying the site! 18 weeks was a pretty good time for me, hopefully you are enjoying it as well! I’m assuming that in the next month or so you’ll be feeling movement (if you haven’t already) and you’ll get an ultrasound - both hugely exciting events :-) Please keep us posted and let us know how you and the baby are doing!

  31. Hi Adriane - congrats on your third pregnancy! I think that remembering that every pregnancy is different is a very challenging thought to keep in mind when second or third pregnancies do things that are different from what we expect. I’ve read quite a few comments on this site from women who thought they felt movement, and then didn’t feel anything for a few weeks. You are certainly not alone in what you’ve been feeling, and from what your doctor says, it sounds like everything is going to be fine, but it certainly is disconcerting, isn’t it?

  32. Hi again Adriane - I’m so glad to hear that your baby is “having a party in your belly” - what a relief! I guess that goes to show that even inside babies have their own personalities ;-) Good luck to your family, and if you get a chance, please let us know if you’re having a boy or a girl :-)

  33. hi there. i am 19 weeks pregnat and have felt the little movements.after all this time i only put on 1lb. i was worried and went for an ultrasound. doctor said that everything is ok. i am not so worried about that now there is only one little problem. my husband and i wanted no more kids.we already have two girls. now we are starting to feel excited but we really!! want a bot this time, since i am have a T-L after this one. anyways i love this sight

  34. Hi Chrish - congrats on your 3rd! It’s a relief to see your doctor and be told that everything is ok, isn’t it? Were they able to tell in your ultrasound if you are having a boy or a girl? Will you have another ultrasound? How do your girls feel about the new addition to the family? I’m glad you and your husband are starting to get excited - you’ve got a few more months to get even more excited before the little one arrives :-) I hope this pregnancy goes well for you, and I’m sure you’ll enjoy it, as you know it’ll be your last! Good luck, and please keep us posted to let us know how things are going!

  35. Hello All. I started to feel “Junior” move around 17.5 weeks. I felt movement everyday until 19 weeks when it just stopped. I asked my doctor and he said that in the beginning fetal movement will be “irratic at best”. The baby started kicking again around 20 weeks (feels like a little pop or tap between my pubic bone and belly button) and I have felt at least a little movement everyday since. I am now almost 22 weeks- is it normal at this stage to have days when the baby moves all the time and other days when I rarely feel anything? I thought from about 20 weeks the movement would get stronger and more frequent. (not the case for me) Does anyone know? Thanks in advance for any advice! Good luck to everyone with their babies!

  36. Hi Katie, I felt things a little similar to this around 20-26 weeks. I would get in my car after being on my feet most of the day, and realize that I hadn’t really felt much movement for quite a while. I talked to my doctor about this, and he suggested that it could be one of two things: either I was too busy to notice the movements and wasn’t paying as much attention while I was working (entirely possible) or that the baby was lulled to sleep by my movement during the day, and could have been sleeping when I was expecting more movement. At any rate, as Xander got stronger, I began to feel movement more frequently, but even near the end of my pregnancy there were hours at a stretch where I wouldn’t feel any movement - often during the day when I was busy. But, if you’re at all worried, I would encourage you to at least call your doctor’s office. They will either be able to reassure you over the phone, or they’ll bring you in for a checkup, and reassure you in person. Good luck - and please keep us posted about how things are going!

  37. I am 19.5 weeks, Im freaking out a bit Ive felt the baby since I was 15 weeks everyday now to me I feel they have dissaperaed or that I keep maybe paying attention to much. Anyone similiar?

  38. Hi Sara,

I’m happy I found your website. It’s comforting to hear women talk about the same thing you’re experiencing. I just started my 16th week. I haven’t felt anything yet. I’m a little concerned because my first pregnancy ended in a miscarriage. At my last docs visit, he said we’re both doing fine. But, I can’t wait to feel some movement.
    Thanks for having this website.

  39. Hi Andrea, it certainly sounds like you are not the only one who has felt movement, and then not felt movement for a little while. I wouldn’t panic yet if I were you, but you might want to call your doctor’s office. I’m sure they will be able to reassure you over the phone, or have you come in for a visit. Once you hear that heartbeat on their monitor, I’m sure you’ll feel better. Good luck - and please keep us posted!

  40. Hi Sheryse - congrats on your pregnancy! I can certainly understand why you are nervous, but don’t worry yourself too much. It sounds like your doctor is happy with how things are progressing, and you’ve still got plenty of time to feel movement - 16 weeks would be on the early side. Some women don’t feel anything until 20 weeks or later. Soon you’ll be feeling that kid dancing a jig in your belly :-) Good luck to you, and please keep us posted!

  41. I am 17+ weeks pregnant and I felt movement at 15 weeks and now nothing, do you think I should be concerned? I won’t know till I have my ultrasound in 2 weeks. I have another child and can’t remember when I felt movement with her, hmm….I guess the best thing to do is sit and wait..

  42. Hello,

I found your website when looking up baby movement, the above helped so much with my concerns. I am on baby number two. I have a boy (born 8 weeks preemie due to preeclampsia) who is now just over 15 months and blowing away the developmental center with his learning speed.

I just found out I am having another boy! Two and less that two eyars apart, I think I will be going crazy as they get older!

Anyway, after reading this conversation, I looked for a topic on baby names and couldn’t find one, so I am posting here. Let me know if another conversation opens with this topic.

Here is my issue. I have been searching on every website, book, you name it I have been there for a name. With my first we had decided on Cameron when we found out it was a boy, so I got to bond with him that much sooner and call him by name, it was so nice. I want to do the same this time, but my husband does not like ANYTHING. The only name he likes, ugh, is GUS! I am getting ehadaches just checking site after site. I think I have come up with some pretty good options. I put out a poll on babyzone.com and had the family vote. Right now Caden is leading, which was my first choice (my husband and step daughter do not like it). Ryan is close behind. We have a hard time with Ryan, because it is so popular, we are afraid of their being 18 of them when he is in school, so I thought maybe a spin on the name would be nice so I found Rylan, doesn’t he hate that too! Mom thinks I misspelled Ryan and my sister thinks it sounds like a girls name. I think Rylan might be difficult for teachers when he is in school, mispronouncing it…I don’t want that either.

Anyway, I want to know if there are other people out there having this same problem and what did you do to finally decide on a name?

Also, if there is anyone out there who has had a pregnancy that involved preeclampsia and are now having a second or just want to share, I would love to talk about that as well. I don’t have anyone that can relate to my problems the first time and my problem this time.

THANKS! I love this site, I hope I can connect with some other mothers soon!

  43. Hi Lisa - congrats on your second! I think the waiting part is the most difficult when you’re worried about something like movement. I’ve noticed quite a few women have posted on this site about feeling movement, and then not feeling anything for a few weeks. I’m not sure if that’s completely normal, but you’re definitely not the only one experiencing that. I often encourage people to call their doctor’s office. I don’t know if I just got lucky with a very friendly staff, but I was never shy about calling with questions, and they were generally able to address my concerns over the phone, and if they couldn’t, then they scheduled me an appointment, often that same day. Good luck to you - and please let us know how things are going from time to time :-)

  44. Hi Le Anne, congrats on baby number 2! Choosing a name is definitely a huge challenge. My husband was insanely picky when it came to names as well. For the first few months I did exactly what you are doing - scouring the internet for names that I liked, in hopes that at least one of the hundreds that I found Zach would like as well. I failed. I never found a name that Zach and I could agree on. Instead, I settled on letting him find a name, and I had the veto power. Unfortunately for you, your husband found a name that you don’t like. But, if you asked him to find another name, what would he come up with? I think picking a name can be one of the most difficult decisions during pregnancy. I also agree with you that having a name prior to birth does let you get used to saying it, and talking to a person rather than this unnamed baby… I think the name Caden is nice - and fits nicely with your first son’s name (both C’s). I wish you luck on finding a name that everyone is happy with, and, once you’ve found it, we would love to know what it is!

  45. Has anyone had their blood test (quad screening) come back abnormal?? Mine did. I am 33 years old and have 2 healthy kids and this has me really anxious. I refused an amnio because I am scared of the risk of miscarriage. It might just be a false-positive result but I was wondering if this has happened to anyone. I am 19 weeks right now.

  46. Hello Melinda,

I have had my AFP (triple screen) come back abnormal twice! Once with my last baby and once this time around. I am not sure which way yours was, low or high. Mine was low, which is an increased risk of downs syndrome. They sent me for a level II ultrasound and then had me sit with a genetic counsellor to decide if I wanted to do the amnio or not. If yours was high, I don’t know if the percentages are different as high would mean other diseases such as spinabifida (SP) and cord disorders.

The level II US both times did not show any physical signs of downs for my babies, but that did not change the risk of downs. The first time I went through this I must have sat with that genetic counsellor for over an hour. I asked them over and over their stats on the amnios, if they had ever had any miscarriages, etc. Basically my risk of having a downs baby was 2% and my risk of miscarriage was .5%. Since the risk of downs out-weighed the chance of miscarriage, I very nervously opted to have the amnio.

Here is my reasoning though….a lot of people were shocked when they found out I was going to have amnio, but if you know me at all, you know that I am an extremely organized and well prepared person in most cases. I did not want to be a bad mother because I didn’t know the challenges of having a baby with downs. I am sure they have different needs and such than babies born without downs. I have friends who have a (now 22 year old) with downs and she was one of the first in the state to get her license and she is a very individual person. She is amazing. We do a lot with special olympics and there is just no way I would ever terminate a pregnancy. My reason was I needed to know so I could begin learning and taking classes and preparing myself for the challenges that the baby and my husband and I would be facing.

The amnio is very simple, and the hospital I went to for these tests is the best in the state for prenatal and premature babies. In fact my first son was 8 weeks early and spent a month in their NICU and is absolutely perfect! They are an amazing staff.
So the decision is up to you, a lot of people feel they don’t want to know and then there are people like me who need to be prepared and know I am doing everything to be a knowledgeable mother. Once the baby is born, there is very little time for classes and reasearch.

I will say the amnio is VERY quick and VERY easy. I would make sure of the hospital and know their stats and reputation with prenatal care. I would make sure they have the level II ultrasound first also. That was the for sure thing the doctors had me have both times, as it can catch some physical signs of downs. Sometimes that puts you at ease as well.

Best of luck and I hope this helps…when are you do? Keep us updated!

    Lee Anne

  47. Is there anyone out there who has had issues with preeclampsia? I would love to get in touch with someone via email to chat through the rest of my second prenancy.

PS. Sara, now I am leaning toward Spencer, thinking my hubby would like that better, but he doesn’t. So I am hoping one of these names will grow on him. *Sigh*

  48. Hi Lee Ann - I like the name Spencer, and I love the nickname Spence! Hopefully your husband decides to like at least one of the names you’ve chosen soon! Good luck!

  49. Hi Ladies,
I found this site while looking for info on fetal movements. I understand that some women feel their babies move sooner than others but I am curious to know at what point should a woman begin to feel concerned that she has not felt any fetal movements? Thanks.

  50. Hello Melinda,

I also had a high risk triple screen test which gave me a 1 in 85 chance of having a baby with downs. A few weeks before I had the triple screen blood test I had a really low risk nuchal scan- 1 in 4975 chance of downs. As you can imagine I was very confused and did not know what to do…..

In the end after having a level 2 ultra sound and finding there was no physical signs of downs syndrom I decided against the amnio as the risk of a miscarriage was just too high for me.

I was told that the triple screen picks up 60% of affected babies- therefore has a 40% false positive rate. The nuchal scan picks up 80% of affected babies and the level 2 ultra sound also picks up 50-60% of affected babies. The most important thing to remember is that these are only indicators- and many women with a high test result will have a normal baby. The only way to tell for sure is to have the amnio done.

My sister in law also had a high risk blood test for one of her children and she is very normal.

Good luck- let me know what you decide to do.

    Katie

  51. Thank you Katie and Lee Anne for responding. I am not sure if my levels were high or low but my level II ultrasound showed no signs of Down’s which helped put me at ease. I believe the genetic counselor told me the risk was 1 in 60. Like you Katie I did not want to risk a miscarriage by getting an amnio. The more research I do it seems that a majority of women do get false-positive readings from this test. I am due on June 24 and right now I am being positive and concentrating on choosing a name—it’s a boy!! We are very excited. Thanks again.

  52. So I wrote 2 weeks ago that I lost feeling of any movement! Well that’s over….WOW this baby is moving like crazy!!! I am now 18+ weeks and loving the feeling, the minute I felt it I remembered that feeling from my first..We have our U/S Tuesday the 13th and hopefuly the legs are spread enough to tell, I am so anxious to know the sex of this child, we were suprised with our first! I am bringing our 5 year old, my husband and my mom…can’t wait…

  53. Melinda, I am glad you feel more at ease. I am one of those people that just had to know or I would have stressed for the rest of my pregnancy, which for me is not good since I has preeclampsia last time and headed that way this time. Stress and blood Pressure issues, just don’t mix. 1 in 60 works out to be about 1.6-2% and risk of miscarriage (from what they told me) was .5% So I think our numbers were about the same.

I got my amnio results back Friday afternoon and all is well with my baby. As they say, he is chromosomally normal, and definitely a BOY also :) I am glad I don’t have to go through the classes and research. I have a close friend with downs and do a lot with special olympics, so I know a good amount about it, but not how to be a parent. So I am glad…with a 16 month at home already and working full time, I don’t have anytime :)

We are having a very difficult time choosing a name…my husband is ridiculous. Good luck with choosing your name.

I am due June 22nd, just a few days before you :) But I will be scheduled for a c-section about a week or more before that date. I am hoping I make it to June.

Good luck and keep us all updated :)

    Lee Anne

PS. LISA, your email was what caught my eye on this website. I was having the same issues as you, and like you I feel the baby quite a bit now. Best of luck to you, and let us all know what you are having :)

  54. Hi Lee Anne. I am so happy your amnio results came back and all is well. We are also having a really HARD time choosing a name. My other 2 children (10 & 14) are helping us with this process. We are leaning towards Jayden. It has a nice ring to it. I forgot how hard it was to choose a name. I am definitely not thinking about the results of my quad screening. I have even talked with more women who have told me it has happened to them and their babies were perfectly normal. Take care of yourself. Melinda

  55. Hello ALL, I had my ultrasound today! IT’S A BOY!!! We are so excited!! I will keep you posted.

  56. What a wonderful site, most of my questions have been answered. I am 18 wks 4 days and concerned about movement, some days I feel it and some days I don’t. I am also a little concerned because everyone else I know around me that is about the same amount of weeks that I am seems so much more “pregnant” and look pregnant, I just look fat and when I tell anybody I am pregnant, they all look shocked, I am not a big woman, I was wearing a size 8 pants before I got pregnant.

I have also read a lot of ladies looking for names of boys, not sure how different you want to go but if we were having a boy (it is a girl) we were going to call him Hakyn.

  57. hi i’ve just had my 16th to 20th bllod test results back…………….. it came back positive. is there anyone who been in same position

  58. hi melinda same happen to me. im 19th week as well an the test came back positive, they tell me not to worry, and wait to see what scan shows up.. im really upset by this as my 2nd child has got abnormality already email me, i’d like to keep in touch,on any news at… dilwara@btinternet.com

  59. Hi Lisa - congratulations!!! You must be so excited :-) We can’t wait to hear your boy name ideas!

  60. Hi Kerry - congratulations on your pregnancy! I’m sure that you’ll start to feel the movement more regularly soon, but call your doctor anytime you’re worried - I’ve found that sometimes a simple phone call can do a lot to alleviate concerns. Also, every pregnant woman looks different, and it seems like with every pregnancy you look different as well. I’ve heard of plenty of women saying that their pregnancy thickened them all around, and not just in the belly area. I like you pick for the boy name. Have you decided on a girl name yet? Good luck!!

  61. HI Dil. Was this the triple screening or quad screening you are refering to?? If it is go back in the postings because my triple screen blood test came back abnormal and women posted their experiences which made me feel alot better. I posted my question on post #45. See if it helps to read some of the postings. Let me know more especially what kind of blood test did you take and what was the positive result. Take care.

  62. Hi Sara

For a girl we have chosen Zoe Dakota, which is sounding better every time I say it. I have an appointment next week with my Dr and I have a box of chocolates for her. We are Military and so I know she goes out of her way to keep me “calm”
I have started to feel her move a little more now and my husband is so funny (he is away at the moment) and when we talk on the phone I will tell him I felt her move today and he will say “Oh, she she is not dead today” he thinks it is funny the way I freaked out but what he doesn’t realize is that I was dead serious!! Someone decided to inform me 2 weeks ago about when she was doing her student nursing and found dead fetus’s in the mothers, freaked me out so badly I went running to the hospital to hear the heartbeat!!!

  63. Our baby boys name will be after my husband. It will be Garret Jr. Not many Garret’s out there so it will be a different one…I plan on caling him Jr. Our daughter says she will call him “George” LOL! Well keep in touch, I am painting this week! :)

  64. Lisa! I LOVE THE NAME GARRETT. That was one of my choices with my first son…as you have read above my husband doesn’t go for many names though and we ended up with Cameron fior our first. I love Cameron (Cam)…it is like the perfect name, which is why it is so hard this time, I feel like I won;t find a name that is as perfect as I think Cameron is. My step daughter has two babies at home…one that is a boy and it is Gavin. Might be confusing for her to have a Gavin and a Garrett. LOL…..anyway, the more and more I think, the more I am thinking of going with Ryan. I love it, and hubby likes it….the only one we have that both of us like…

Melinda, I love the name Jayden as well…again it is an awesome name and therefore my hubby wouldn’t go for that one last time around. I would have spelled it Jaden…I am a plain Jane I guess….my cousin Jen likes the spelling Jayden better. I think that is a perfect choice!

We should post when we all have our boys and they finally have names :)

BTW where are you all from? I am from Massachusetts and I am 23 weeks along. As you can tell from my original post, I had a lot of complications due to preeclampsia last time and headed that way this time…so who knows if I will actually have him mid June like they want me to. Scheduled C-Section.

Let me know how you are all doing!
    Lee Anne

  65. Lee Anne,
I think you should go with Ryan - it’s a nice, classic Irish name, balances well with Cameron (Scotch origin) too — the names are different enough that the boys will have their own identities and initials, but both are solid and not fluffy. Some of these other names are very faddy/trendy. Picking something like Jaden/Caden/Rylan is the name equivalent of making your child wear leg warmers or MCHammer pants for his entire life.

  66. Hi!

I am in week 30 and I had an elective 3d ultrasound done. I was so excited to see his face for the first time. When I went to get the ultrasound, he was facing my spine and it was difficult to get an image. When I did get an image his face looked abnormal to me. It made me anxious all night and I was wondering if anyone has had a 3d ultrasound that looked odd? I have had a normal ultrasound at the dr…so maybe I am worrying about nothing???
    Geri

  67. Hi I am 17weeks and 5 days and I thought I was feeling movement for a week or so, but the past few days I havent felt anything and its worrying me!~! I had a previous miscarriage but that was between 6 and 8 weeks!~! I have to be at my doctors appointment in 4 and a half hours, but I cant help but worry about it!~! Just cant wait to get there and feel the heartbeat!~! Im sure everything is ok, just wanna know!~! Any advice?~?

  68. Geri,

Although I have not had a 3-D ultrasound, I had 5 regular ones with my first son and am going for my 5th tomorrow with this baby (only at 24 weeks). I have a ton of picture of my first son’s face where he looks like an alien and it frightened a lot of people :P Cameron is a GORGEOUS boy, he is adorable and there is nothing about his face that is abnormal.
I am guessing that because it was hard for them to get an image since the baby was facing your spine that it probably is a distorted picture and nothing to worry about. I am sure at your other normal ultrasounds they would have told you of any abnormalities. At your 18-23 week ultrasound they should have been examining everything, checking for eyes, nose, cleft palets, anything out of the ordinary.
If you are still concerned, bring the pics with you to your next doc appointment and show the doctor, I am sure he will reassure you or schedule another ultrasound to be sure.

    Lee Anne

  69. KC,

Thanks for your opinion….I am leaning toward Ryan…my hubby and I really cannot find any common ground with any other names. I do still like Rylan, but apparently that extra L really bothers my husband :P

    Lee Anne

  70. Hi Lisa - I also like the name Garret. I think it’s great that you’ll have a name to refer to even before he comes out :-) How did the painting go? I’m assuming you were painting Garret’s room? What color did you choose? I’m glad to hear everything is going so well!

  71. Hi again, thanks for the positive feedback on my baby’s name, Garret.. I have been calling him my little Gare bear! We painted his room, I wanted blue but nothing to babyish, so it will last longer than infancy.. so I went with the new 40s retro blue that is popular now, It looks GREAT! His room has all white trim, so It is a very fresh look, with long tab top cutains over his double window!!!! It is EXACTLY how I wanted it! It is all ready for him…I am crazy about planning, so now that his rrom is all done, we have started buying diapers! I am so excited to have a boy!!! We have a 5 year old daughter who is crazy in love with her brother allready! Any tips on raising a boy? This will be the first boy in the family and I have no clue!!!

LeAnne- I like Ryan, that is a great name…I agree with your husband about the extra “l”. I think everyone is going to think his name is ryan anyways, I would stick with Ryan..

22 weeks along and loving it!!!!

  72. Hi Lisa - your nursery sounds amazing! I’m so glad you’re happy with it, and I love the nickname, Gare bear - so cute! I have tons of tips on raising a boy so far, so instead of leaving it all in a comment, I’ll do a new post of things I’ve learned so far, hopefully you’ll get a few tips from it ;-) Take care, and continue enjoying your pregnancy!

  73. Hello! Sorry it has been a while. My son has been sick, now me, BP is up…just one thing after another. Actually headed back to L&D as we speak.

Just wanted to say I probably have a few suggestions on raising a boy, and like you Lisa, this is the first boy in ages in our family. Where is the post? Can someone post the link?

I should probably head out, wish me luck!

  74. hi there! im so happy to have found this website. i am 18 weeks pregnant and am not sure if i felt my baby move yet. once or twice i think i did on the left side…how will i know for sure?! also, im very distracted bc i am on anti depressant for my depression. anyone out there in the same position? or at least know someone like me who had a healthy baby? my dr okays the meds, but i still am so worried….id appreciate any feedback!

  75. Christine,

I am sure you probably have felt a few little kicks or movements here or there. This is my second time around and I was still wondering if I felt something and worried when I didn’t Just keep in mind, kicking is VERY sparatic at 18 weeks…My little one really started moving ALL the time around the 24-25 week range. Before that it was just every now and then. But the best advice is if you are worried, talk to your doc.

I can also relate to the depression. I had it for years. I didn’t not take meds though while I was pregnant for my first or for this one. I figured there was nothing I could take and things in my life were going well and I was feeling good, so I told my doc I hadn’t been taking them. I had been taking them for years for a while, then went off for three years and then went through some tough times again and felt the need for a low dosage, but like I said that didn’t last too long. It is good to know there are some anti-depressants out there that can be used during pregnancy! I am sure if the doc said they were ok to take then you will be fine. I am sure they will be keeping close tabs on your meds.

Best of luck and let us know how things are going :)

    Lee Anne

  76. Lee Anne,
Thanks so much for writing back. I actually felt the baby move so much on Saturday night, was sooo happy, and now its tuesday night and i havent felt anything since then. Im so worried and cant wait till my appointment tomorrow. My husband keeps reassuring me that everything is fine. It feel s so good to actually feel the baby move, so when he or she stops I feel panicked. I will keep u up to dat e aftter my appt. i pray all is ok…
Yes, depression is not a fun thing. I have battled it along with sever anxiety for years. It does bother me that I know I have to take meds, but i know i couldnt be “normal” without them. I wa a mess, i mean a mess, my 1st trimester and i was on meds!! I could not stop crying, and was in bed alot. It wasnt such a happy 3 months, but now i am so much better. I think I worry about the baby even more bc I partly feel guilty fo being on meds, but i really have no other choice. I admire you for being able to go off you rmeds while pregnant, and wish i can do it without my husband divorcing me!!! how many children do u have now?? wb did u fint out the sex?? We can find out tomorrow and oooohh is it tempting!!! wb when u can!! christine

  77. To all those who had a positive 16th blood test- the neural tube defest test, DONT WORRY! My doctor informed me that most of the time it is a false positive. Its very common for it to read positive and then nothing is wrong with the baby. Think positive and take care of yourselves…xo Christine

  78. Just logged on to your site, makes me feel reasured as i havnt any movement yet at 19wks, had heart beat check for peace of mind and its fine, I had 2 miscarriages previous to this pregnancy quite late ones but feel healthier in this pregnancy, fingers crossed. Its good to know were all the same worrying about our unborn babes.

  79. Christine,

This is my second baby, but I also have a step daughter (Morgan) who just turned 8. My first son (Cameron) is 17 months, and this next one is also a boy. So two boys in less than two years! I must be nuts :)

Even in this pregnancy (after having a pregnancy not even two years ago) the movement of the baby still worries anyone. I had the same thing as you, which is when I found this site. I would feel him move and then nothing for a couple of days and I would get worried, but it is just that the baby is not big enough yet. All of a sudden you will feel him/her move all over the place everyday. It is a great feeling I agree. Keep in mind though, all babies are not the same. My first was not like this one at all. Cameron would move here and there, but responded mostly to orange soda and reese’s cups (the breakfast of champions I know). This one is all over the place, all day, no matter what! I swear this one doesn’t sleep, which means I am in for it when he finally graces us with his presence.

As for the depression, I went through years of being VERY bad. I couldn’t go through a day without crying over things like dropping my pencil on the floor! But once I met my husband things got better. I have to admit I don’t think I have the depression as bad as a lot of people which enables me to go on and off meds when the road gets bumpy and I am overwhelmed. Keep in mind also that pregnancy is a bumpy road, your hormones are all over the place, it is normal to cry and be stressed and feeling like you don’t know yourself…but if you know you have had depression before, then it is smart to make sure that you have a healthy pregnancy. I wouldn’t feel guilty, the doc obviously thinks it is safe, so it is important for you to stay sane, keep your stress level down, and be a good mommie to the new little one.

I can tell you this is my worry. I am a very anxious person, I get stressed out easily, which does not mix well with the fact that I had preeclampsia with my first son and I am headed that way again. With PE you have high blood pressure, protein in urine and a lot of swelling. Stress can lead to high BP and make it worse, so I have been on BP meds since I found out I was pregnant. Since my last baby was 8 weeks early due to PE, they did a csection. They are scheduling a csection for this one as well.

I can admit that I have not had the swelling I had last time which is good. I wasn’t even recognizable last time around. My BP has been good with the meds also. But I am having other things. Lots of cramping, spotting here and there. I am 28 weeks this week, and only 4 weeks from when I had my last one, which makes me a bit nervous. I am seeing a kidney doc and my OB, so they are watching me closely, but it doesn’t solve the pregnancy worries with the constant cramping and stuff. I have been in the labor and delivery dept three times already this month for three different things, just to have the baby monitored and to make sure I was not going into preterm labor. Needless to say, I can’t wait for my appt tomorrow.

Sorry for my babbling, thought I would give you some background.

So have you and your hubby decided on names for each sex?

    Lee Anne

  80. Lee Anne,
Im terrified right now and cant seem to stop crying, actually Im numb with fear that something is wrong. The baby has not moved since Saturday, i keep playing out scenarios on what i would do if something is wrong. I think i may just die. I have an appt this afternoon at 2 pm, and cant wait to go, yet i am terrified of hat they will tell me. Im a worry wort as u see,(and u thought u had anxiety?)! Im reading all these things on the computer about stillbirth…making me nuts. You have an appt today too and i hope all goes well with you… We have names, Sean Bernard for a boy after my husbands brother who passed in 9-11, and Livia Colette for a girl(my mom and his mom first names). We wanted soemthing sentimental so….Im not too keen on the name Livia Colette but…..
Anyhow, im going to church now to say a prayer for my baby, ill be onlone 2nite if you wanna chat. My aol email is hooperfegan2003@aol.com. Good luck at the drs….Christine

  81. Hi Christine - wow, that’s a lot of anxiety you’ve got! I know it’s tough, but I think you might worry less if you could convince yourself to not look at anymore stillbirth information - that’s enough to stress out any pregnant lady! I’m so glad you’ve got an appointment today. I know it’s not until 2pm, but maybe you could call your doctor’s office now and at least see if they can allieviate some of your concerns over the phone. I’m sure they see worried moms all the time, and they hopefully have some magic words to help you. I think Sean Bernard and Livia Colette are both wonderful names. Please keep us posted and let us know how your appointment goes today! It’ll be such a relief for you to hear the heartbeat. Try to relax and enjoy your appointment today! Good luck!

  82. Just a quick note…as today is an extremely busy day for me.

I agree with Sara, the more you look at things on the internet the worse you feel. I am telling you I went days without this one moving around 18 weeks. It wasn’t until many weeks after that I could count on him moving…and my first one was so different. I had to snack or drinking something like soda and then he would move around and he is perfect. I am sure there is nothing to worry about, relax and I am sure the doc will hear the heartbeat today and you will be all relieved.

I have an appt today at 3:10 (3/29). I will hopefully get some answers on my cramping and spotting. They don’t seem to be too concerned which is good I guess. I think they are just thinking it is the infection I have (for the third time this pregnancy).

I know how anxiety can take over your life, please try and relax andjust think about how good of a mommy you will be. This is all worth it in the end! :)

    Lee Anne

  83. Hi Kay - congratulations on your pregnancy! I think it’s entirely normal to worry about movement, or lack of movement, and don’t worry - your baby has plenty of time to start dancing a jig on your organs. Some women don’t feel consistent movement until somewhere between 22 and 25 weeks, so yours has plenty of time to build up enough strength. Healthy is definitely the key, and I’m glad you’re feeling healthy this time around. Please keep us posted and let us know how you and the baby are doing!!

  84. Just an update and checking in.

Appt on Thursday went ok. They did an FFN which came back negative. FFN is a test that is supposed to check for preterm labor. The fact it came back negative means that I shouldn’t go into labor in the next two weeks. Apparently this is a test they may repeat every two weeks if I am still having the cramping and spotting. I have been having the cramping a lot. I guess one of my biggest problems is that I don’t even know what a contraction feels like. I know I am already the mother of one, but since he was born at 32 weeks, I never felt anything with him. So the cramping makes me a bit nervous, but I am hanging in there.

I know I have other things going on that can cause preterm labor and apparently the FFN does not test for those (hypertension, 3rd UTI). I guess it tests for separation of the uterus from something. I have read about it a million times, but still can’t remember.

I also had a +1 for protein. I have had trace since the beginning which is why they have me seeing a kidney doc also. They didn’t seem to be too worried about it though, maybe because my BP was still ok and I have not had the major swelling I had last time.

It is horrible though, with all this going on, everyone keeps asking me “this is your last one, right?” Even my mother! I understand that my body does not handle pregnancy well, but I am doing better than others I think and it is so worth it in the end. I love Cameron and this one I will love no less. It is hard not to want more. I think two will end up being it, but I said that after the first one (plus we have Morgan from my husbands first marriage). I never thought I would love being a Mom soooo much.

Anyway, Christine, how did you make out at the doctors? If I don’t hear from you today, I will try and drop you an email.

PS….still no name decision. What does everyone think of Hayden (Hayes for a nickname)? Just something that has been stuck in my head for months now, not sure where it came from.

    Lee Anne

  85. i feel reassured after reading your comments. i was told that at 17 weeks i should feel my baby move and i have not felt nothing as yet and i was getting quite worried. thanks you guys you have made me feel so much better.

  86. Hey, Im about 18 or 19 weeks pregnant now and I have felt my child do something at least six times already, And on the day of the sonogram, he waved at me before turning around giving us a full view of his bottom half. I am just so happy and can’t wait until his arrival. thanks for this site, im a first time mom and it is great to be able to share what you feel with someone else, with no family or friends it’sjust my husband and I and sometimes it feels like he does not want to hear me talk about the baby as often as I think about it.

  87. Hi Lee Anne, I LOVE the name Hayden! You say that you don’t know where the name came from, that it’s just stuck in your head? You probably used to watch the former sit com TV show, “COACH”. The charactor who was the college’s head coach was named Hayden Fox. I’ve loved that name ever since being a fan of that show. I hope you ladies don’t mind an expectant grandmother joining in your little group here. My daughter and SIL are expecting my 1st grandchild on October 6th. She will be 15 weeks tomorrow. I am sooo excited about this baby, but don’t want to be one of THOSE KIND of butt-in-skys. So I read everything that I can find on the internet, including these posts, so that I can stay out of my daughter and SIL’s faces. Is there room for a grandma in here?

  88. Hi Karen - there is always room for family and friends on this blog - welcome! I’m glad you are so excited about your grandchild - it sounds like you are going to be a wonderful grandparent! The fact that you are conscious of being one of “those kind of but-in-skys” almost guarantees that you won’t be. So, take good care of that daughter of yours, and soon you’ll have a new grandbaby to play with!! Oh, and please keep us posted on how mommy and baby are doing!

  89. Thanks for the warm welcome Sara! I cannot wait to hold this wonderful little miracle in my arms, and constantly remind him/her of how so very much he/she is loved by grandma! My daughter and SIL, Mandy and Dave, are supposed to find out their baby’s gender at her 19-20 week appt. I pray constantly for a healthy baby. Gender does not matter in the slightest, but we are all so anxious to know if we should stock up on dresses or overalls! LOL! I just want to go shopping! Also, it will feel more real once we can give the baby an identity. We did the chinese baby gender chart, which says she is having a girl. Then I paid for the gender test at fotunebaby.com that uses the mother & father’s birthdates, combined w/conception date, and it said that she’s having a boy. I guess we won’t know for sure until until the baby is born.

  90. Hi everyone! I told my daughter about this site, and she said that once school lets out in the end of May, she’ll start joining in on all of the excitement. Until then, she doesn’t have the time to sit down at her computer, for personal use. Mandy is a 3rd grade teacher, and a very devoted one at that! No, I’m not proud…yeah right I’m not! LOL I never tire of people telling me that she’s the best teacher their child has ever had. There are a lot of upset kids and parents at her school right now, since she has made the announcement that she and her hubby have decided that she will be a stay at home mom…at least for a few years. She wants me to ask all of you for advice on breast pumps. The best style and brand for the price, and owning one versus renting. What was your experience? I appreciate your opinions!

  91. Hi Karen!

I do remember the show, but I never really watched it. Some coincidence in the name though huh? Too bad my husband hates everything except the name GUS! UGH! I don’t think this kid will ever have a name.

I have some info on the breast pump thing. Most hospitals give them to you free. I didn’t realize this until I ended up in the hospital early with my first. But I got a $300 pump for free, all covered. So before she goes and registers for one or rents one, have her check with the hospital and/or her insurance company first. She may get one free.

The model I got was top of the line, with a backpack, plug and battery pack for on the go use. It is an electrical one, which I think works way better and faster than the ones you pump yourself. I am trying to think of the make of it….hmm….oh yes….Medela. Here is a link to the exact one I got.

    http://store.babycenter.com/product/left+nav+pgroups/shop+by+brand/m+-+r/medela/pump+in+style+advanced+backpack.do?asc=false

It comes with evetything…a little cooler pack and the ice block, which for me was awesome since my son was early I had to bring what I had pumped overnight back to the NICU everyday. I also would reccommend the dual pump…I thought I would feel like a cow, but it saves so much time and the last thing you want is to be pumping all the time.

Kudos to your daughter. I am hoping to be a stay at home Mom after this one, but I am not sure how long it will last. I miss my son everyday when I leave for work…I am sure all Mom’s do.

    Anyway, I hope that helps!

    Keep in touch!

  92. Hi,
I’m almost 16 weeks and this is my third pregnancy (I have two boys 8 an 9 years old). I’ve been reading very similar concerns to what I’m going to write about feeling flutters early on and then nothing. Thanks for having this website - it’s very comforting. I rented a fetal doppler and can hear the baby’s heartbeat but still worry that something is wrong because it’s just not moving like my other two did. What do you ladies think?

  93. I think every baby is different. I went through the same thing as you with my current pregnancy. My first was so much different. Give it a couple of weeks…movement is so sparatic and I never realized how sparatic until this pregnancy.

My first would scare me all the time. I had to eat candy and drink orange soda to get him to move. This one was on and off the first couple of weeks…and then NON STOP! He is still non stop at 31 weeks!

I wouldn’t worry….every baby is different. But talk to your OB if you have concerns, they can always reassure you one way or another.

    Lee Anne

  94. Hi Kanchana!
I wouldn’t worry about not feeling your baby move at this stage. It’s awesome that you have felt the fluttering already, as I can very vividly recall how exciting that feeling is! However, my daughter, Mandy, is 15 weeks/3 days as of today, and she has never felt the baby move yet. (She’s due on 10/06/07). It is really neat that you have the fetal doppler and can listen to your baby’s heart whenever you want to! As for feeling movement, I’ve heard that you shouldn’t expect to feel “her” on a regular basis until after 20-22 weeks. Congratulations! I am assuming that you are due the same week as my daughter? She’s disappointed that she still isn’t really showing. Just a little bump..how bout you?

  95. Hi Lee Anne!
Thank you so much for the info on the breast pump…FREE?? How awesome! I will certainly tell Mandy to check with her insurance company as well. It never occurred to either one of us that her health insurance company would cover any portion of it. This is very valuable information.
How is your cramping and spotting? Stopped yet? Does the dr. think that it could maybe be a bladder infection causing it? I will add you to my prayers! It has been a LONG time for me..but I was in your shoes with preeclampsia with both of my babies. Was hospitalized and on bed rest for the last month of pregnancy both times. I delivered both babies naturally, but after the 2nd one, the baby and I were both taken to ICU. I found out later that the dr. told my family that I couldn’t have visitors because they were expecting me to have a stroke. DUDE! I felt fine! I still don’t understand preeclampsia. Protein in urine, hypertension, major swelling, and that’s all I knew. I always felt totally fine. Within 24 hours after delivery, all symptoms were gone, BP was normal enough to go into a regular patient room, and I was advised not to have any more children.
As for your baby name dilemma…tell your hubby that there is a simple solution. You flip a coin to see which one of you is going to go through 9 mos. of pregnancy, followed by delivery. Whichever one of you that is, that person gets to name the baby! Sounds fair to me! LOL! Also, (and this is just one person’s opinion), but I think Gus will sound OK by the time he’s past middle age. It just doesn’t seem like something you would call a baby. Can you get him to agree to a family wide vote? You could write down all of your choices on a sheet of paper, and then pass it around at the next family barbeque to let everyone put a checkmark, or sign their own name next to their choice. Highest amount of votes wins. That’s how my Mandy got her name. Only the vote didn’t take place until the day AFTER she was born! I had named her Jessica as soon as I learned I was pregnant. My husband never protested until she was born and he saw the name written on the ID card in her hospital basinet. Then all of a sudden he hated the name, and he chose Amanda. So we agreed to give every family/friend visitor a vote. You know, the only time we have ever called her Amanda was when she was in trouble. She has been Mandy from the moment I signed the birth certificate. I’m sorry to say that I can’t think of any shortened nickname for Gus.
    Keep us posted!

  96. Karen (as well as update for all),

Well they thought it was my fourth UTI but after talking to my doctor yesterday, he doens’t think so. He is having me finish the antibiotics anyway though. I have been having a lot of contractions and he said real or fake they need to stop and they won’t stop without rest, so I can finish the week at work and then I am out until I have the baby.
