From bibswithdignigy.com

Anyone who has had a sufficiently large belly can sympathize with me on this – it becomes a magnet for crumbs and other foods. Lately I’ve noticed that there is one particular spot on my baby bump that is more “magnetic” than the rest slightly to the right and slightly above my former belly button (I say former, because these days it’s pretty much a flat spot that used to be an indentation once long ago).

The reason I’ve noticed this particular spot more than others is because almost every day for the past week I get to work, take off my coat, put on my ID badge, and discover a tiny, darkened stain in this exact spot. Each morning I sigh in exasporation because I failed to notice the spot when I could have actually treated the stain and before I dried the shirt thus making it a permanent addition…

Additionally, I’ve got a very limited wardrobe this time around – I don’t have many long sleeve maternity shirts, and I refust to spend much money on any of them because in a little over a month I’ll never wear them again. So now my entire winter weather maternity wardrobe is officially stained – I know it’s part of the pregnancy gig – maybe I should just give up and start wearing a bib

I finally gave in and went shopping for maternity clothes this weekend. It’s both an exciting and somewhat depressing adventure. It’s exciting that this little person is finally getting big enough to be making its presence known, but depressing that I can no longer fit into my regular clothes, and I’m pretty sure that no woman enjoys getting fatter. I scouted many retail stores and didn’t have much luck. TJ Maxx doesn’t have a maternity section. JC Penny has 3 or 4 outfits. Khols had an almost respectable section. Target has a similar sized section, with some stuff, but not everything you need. So, where is a pregnant woman to go when looking for clothes? I managed to score an impressive amount from a family friend. The second best resource was a local second hand shop. I know a lot of women who hesitate to shop in second hand stores. However, maternity clothes are a bit different – they hardly ever get worn out because no one wears them for too long before packing them away again. The other plus to shopping in a second hand store is that you aren’t investing a fortune in clothes that you’re only going to wear for 6 months or so. So, this weekend I packed up all of my pants that no longer fit, and started wearing the pants that have the belly panel sewn into the front. They are more definitely comfortable, but they certainly remind you of how much bigger you’ve gotten!

I can’t believe my stomach has already started to pop out. “Pop out” is the correct term as far as I can tell because last week my stomach seemed to have it’s normal amount of roundness that I was able to hide pretty well. This week just about everyone in my office has commented on my newly round surface. I’m just not ready to be this round. From everything I had read, and everything everyone told me, I didn’t expect to seriously start showing until about the 5th month. I haven’t even reached the 4th month yet and already I’m running out of clothes to wear! One woman in my office suggested that perhaps I was having twins. I told her that was not funny and not to even joke about that.

Though everyone at work has insisted that my stomach is significantly bigger, my husband refuses to tell me that I am getting bigger. He recently informed me that even when I’m seven months pregnant he won’t tell me that I’ve gotten any bigger, because in his mind, any answer he gives me is going to be wrong. I’m not really sure that this is entirely true, but I guess I’m going to have to accept that I’m not going to get an honest answer out of him about my looks for the next six months….
To add to my new dilemma, I discovered that I really need to buy some new clothes. I am ok with wearing maternity clothes, but I know that I’m really going to need maternity wear in the summer time, but since it isn’t warm enough for summer clothes yet, I’m stuck – and too cheap to buy clothes now and later. I think getting dressed for the next few weeks is going to prove to be quite challenging.

My cravings have been getting better, though I am still salivating over strawberries. Most people I talk to can’t believe that I haven’t made Zach fetch me any of my craving foods. I was kind of proud of myself that I was able to manage my cravings well enough to get my own food when I needed it.

So, I’m freaking out about my newly rounder belly, running out of clothing, and praying that my co-worker really was just joking about that whole twin thing.
