New Stroller!

April 29, 2009

Shortly after finding out I was pregnant my at times overly stressed mind started planning out what new supplies we would need to purchase for our new addition. A new stroller was near the top of the list.

Luckily, we’ve been able to put off this purchase for Parker’s first four months. Winter in New England isn’t a great time to be strolling outside with a newborn. So I spent a few months researching double strollers.

Zach and I both agreed that the side-by-side versions wouldn’t work for us – they’re too wide for many of the areas we’d be going, and we just weren’t interested in the added inconvenience. So, it would have to be a single-wide stroller with a front and back. Unfortunately, it seems like the kid in the back seat often gets shafted when it comes to views. Also, the older Xander gets, the less interested he is in riding in any sort of stroller. He wants to walk on his own.

After lots of research, we settled on the Babytrend Sit ‘n Stand. It’s got a regular front stroller seat, and according to the advertisement, most infant seats fit into it. I know our Chicco Key 30 seat fits just fine, and there is a strap to buckle the seat securely into place. The best part about this stroller is the sit/stand option for Xander. There is a small bench seat (with buckle) that Xander can sit on the back, facing the driver. If he prefers, he can stand on a small platform (again with a safety buckle) and face forward. I researched and we test drove many strollers before settling on this one, and so far, we’re very happy with the purchase! The stroller folds down into about the same size as a regular stroller (except for the hood, which we’ve been removing since it doesn’t fold down far enough).

Initially, I was thinking that we’d go with the Sit ‘n Stand Plus, which converts that bench seat into a regular stroller seat, but for the amount that we’d use it, it seemed like a waste of money (plus, they didn’t have any in the store that we could test drive).

So, if you’re looking into double strollers, I highly recommend checking this one out!

  1. Sara,

I always appreciate all of your wonderful product reviews. I feel that you put a lot of your heart and mind into them. You are much better than me at researching and making an educated purchase (I am the QUEEN of impulse shopping). I appreciate you sharing your research with us so that the research-challenged among us might benefit from your work.

Keep posting! I love your blog.

    Take care,
    Mary B.
