It’s Been 4 Months Already??
April 30, 2009
Today is April 30th. Four months ago today I was lying on a hospital bed and as I type this, I think the surgeons were stitching me up after my C-section. It’s hard to believe that 4 months have flown by. On the other hand, Parker has grown so much that sometimes it’s hard to believe that it’s only been 4 months.
We’ve gotten to know each other pretty well in the past 4 months. Parker continues to enjoy his changing table, but he doesn’t fall asleep on it anymore. He likes to kick his legs, and enjoys making the kick ‘n play light up. He likes his Jumperoo, but only for about 10 minutes at a time. Parker LOVES to chew on his hands, and will sometimes choose hands over his pacifier or even a bottle. Parker also likes to grab and hold onto fabric, and sometimes put that in his mouth as well. Currently, his favorite toy is the blue doggie head rattle with a satin blanket body (courtesy of Matt & Abby - thank you!!) and mostly he loves to chew and drool on it.
Our boy who got so good at sleeping through the night (10pm-6am like clockwork!) has now phased into an infant who wakes up to eat at 2:30, 4:30 and 5:30. I’m hoping that this is just a growth spurt, and he’ll revert back to his good sleeping habits soon – I could certainly use the rest!!
Xander continues to be a wonderful big brother – he “watches” Parker for us, tells us when Parker needs his pacifier or a toy, and kisses him goodnight every night. In our bedtime routine, I always ask Xander what he’s going to dream about, and he always tells me, Parker (it’s very cute).
So, the first 4 months have been pretty great. Parker is becoming more interested in the world around him, and more interactive every day. We’re so lucky to have two such wonderful sons!
Hi Sara!
It’s nice to hear an update on how everything is going.
What is the exact age difference between your boys?
I recently found out I am pregnant and they will be 24 months apart.
I like reading how you are dealing with two, because I am a tad anxious about it!
I will have a scheduled C like you did too. So weird to pick your baby’s birth date!!

Hi Jennifer!
Congrats on the pregnancy! The boys are 27 months and 10 days apart. Two is definitely a lot more work, but the second child is much less stressful (if that makes any sense…) I’ve found that having a second pair of hands around (Daddy, a grandparent or a friend) is usually the key to less crying and stress in the house. There is much less rest for the parents since we’re both busy with a kid pretty much all the time, but we’re surviving
It is definitely weird to pick your baby’s birthday, but it was strangely relaxing too – I had everything planned and ready to go. He came out just as planned, and the recovery wasn’t bad at all.
Good luck!!
Thanks. Mine will be about 24 months and 10 days apart.
I know I will have my hands full as dad isn’t home a ton, and we moved here to CT for his job so we don’t have those extra hands here.
I am already struggling with the first trimester sickness (UG!) and being there for my sweet 17 month old!
Today is my 8 week exam and ultrasound….can’t wait to see the sex though. Two girls? A boy this time????
Thanks again.
Ug, morning sickness was much worse for me the second time around – I hope you’re surviving ok! Ultrasounds are always exciting – I hope your little one cooperates so you can find out boy or girl! It’s too bad you’re on your own so much. I’d suggest checking around the area to find out if there is a mom’s club or something you could join. I know if I wasn’t working, I’d go crazy being by myself in the house with 2 kids every day. The first few months you might not be able to do too much, but as the baby gets older and onto a schedule, I bet it would be nice to get out and spend time with other moms and kids in the area. If you get a chance, let us know if/when you find out what you’re having, and how you are doing
Hi Sara,
I have a 13 month old girl Abigail who is very sweet (most of the time!) & I came across your blog when I was looking up something to do with pregnancy before she was born. Since then, it’s been so lovely to see how you’re all getting on & I really enjoy reading your updates.
Xander & Parker both sound adorable, many congratulations on having two wonderful boys!
