Xander Week 2 - Finally A Parent

October 5, 2006

Xander & BearAfter waiting a long, long time to become one, I am finally a parent. It’s a huge responsibility, scary at times, but also exhilirating. I’m not a fan of trying to get my son to sleep for hours at 4:30 am, and poopie diapers aren’t exactly exciting. But, snuggling on the couch with this tiny, warm person who curls up and snuggles into your shoulder makes up for all the irritating time. I love his size and his age, but I’m also excited to watch him grow and develop. As probably every silly first-time parent does, I get excited when he wiggles his head around, as a sign that his neck is getting stronger and he is starting to develop more control over his muscles. Even though I should limit our interaction at nighttime feedings more, I can’t help but stare into his eyes when he’s awake, to give him more opportunity to look at my face and hopefully recognize it. Being a parent certainly has its ups and downs, and I’m sure I will write about many of the trials and joys here, but every moment it worth it!

  2. Wow, its really amazing how much they change and so quickly! He already looks so different from the last picture but still absolutely adorable.

  3. wow look how pretty, also they say when you hold them they get spoiled and you shouldnt but recently they say that with babies that is completly untrue, i held my second child for a whole year b4 putting her down and we are both fine, were actually more bonded than me and my 1st which i didnt hold nearly as much. have a great 1st year with your son you will be shocked at how much he changes and how much you really can handle. :)

  4. Hi Katie - thank you! We are certainly enjoying everything so far :-)

  5. Hi Melissa, it is amazing how quickly they grow. It certainly doesn’t feel like it’s been almost 3 weeks since he was born! Time is already flying by!

  6. Hi Ashlee - we definitely hold Xander a majorit of the time - it’s just too hard to put him down ;-) We are certainly enjoying our time with the baby, and I’m definitely not ready for him to start growing, so I’m trying my best to enjoy every moment, since they fly by so fast!
