I was due to deliver my son on Dec. 28, 2007, but the little guy didn't agree and I didn't go into labor until Jan. 2, 2008. Anyway, my doctor told me the maternity floor was packed at the end of Dec due to all the inductions/scheduled C-Sections and I should've been thrilled that I didn't go into labor (hard to convince me of that at the time of course). So in the beginning of Jan the maternity unit was a ghost town. It was awesome - all the nurses had no patients so they were constantly checking on me. I got the best room location.
